A fundraiser for the Wild Cat Wilderness, gate next to no 53 Riverview Park, Catford SE6 4PL (no entry from River Pool).

Herbs, vegetables, fruit bushes, strawberries plus dye plants

Refreshments available. Cash and cards accepted. Bring a bag.

All our plants are grown using Garden Organic’s Organic Guidelines from seed or cuttings and we use organic, peat free compost and recycled pots. We have herbs, tomatoes, courgettes, cucumbers, kale, beans, pumpkins and squash, strawberries, fruit bushes, dye plants and a whole host of other edible plants and things for your kitchen garden, window ledge or indoor pot. Prices between £2-5. Plus free gardening advice from the growers.
We will also be selling our homemade preserves, apple cider vinegar and other delights. All money will support the Wild Cat Wilderness, which is a project of the Lewisham Local charity.

All children should be accompanied by an adult with up to x5 children per adult.

Bring a packed lunch/ snacks and drinks although hot drinks and soup available to buy. Please bring a phone to ring for entry. Make sure you dress for the outdoors. Last entry is 1pm and latecomers won’t be admitted.

By booking a place or attending you are giving us consent to take photographs and these might be used for publicity purposes by our charity. If you want to opt out please notify the person running the session on the day. 

All welcome, we are a charity and entry is to raise money for our project as we look for further funding. If you cant afford to give a the suggested donation then please pay what you can afford.

Volunteer with us

Join a group of local people to help maintain and improve our wonderful community green space on a Thursday afternoon or Friday morning. No experience necessary and all adults welcome. Full details and book via the What’s On page.

Get involved in nature conservation, growing organic food, orchard and tree care, maybe build something, make something, there’s always lots to do to suit all abilities. Come along and learn some new skills whilst having fun and making the most of being outdoors in nature.

Come for one session, every week or as frequently as suits you.

Please bring water, lunch and hand sanitiser. Wear outdoor clothes – sturdy shoes and clothes which you don’t mind getting dirty, plus bring your waterproofs if you have some as we will still go ahead if raining and do something undercover. You will be required to wear gloves if handling any tools so if you have gardening gloves please bring some or you can borrow a pair.

Bring a phone to gain entry as we share the entrance with the Long Meadow Allotments. The gate is next to no 53 River View Park SE6 4PL. No entry from the other side of the Pool River and beware that sat navs can take you to the wrong place. A contact telephone number will be on the gate to gain entry.

Sunday 9th October 12-4. 

As part of the wonderful Catford Arts Trail we are exhibiting pictures inspired by nature drawn by the outdoor art group who meet every Friday morning at the Wild Cat Wilderness. Also an opportunity for anyone to explore our large community green wild space. It’s like a piece bog the countryside hidden in Catford. See the food garden, visit the bees, climb a tree or the tree house or just be outdoors and see what birds and other wildlife you can spot.

Book now for our activities – nature club, wildlife activities, leaf printing, campfire cooking, whittling, natural creative activities, all about bees, butterflies, stick day, fruit picking, bushcraft, whittling and woodcraft, charcoal making.

Some activities are more suitable for slightly older children and adults so please check the suggested ages.

Morning and afternoon sessions available for some sessions. Book via the What’s On page of the website https://wildcatwilderness.org/whats-on/ and choose the number of places for both adults and children in the drop down box. All activities free unless otherwise stated but donations towards our charity really welcome. Some events have limited places and please be aware of last entry times.

Wear suitable outdoor clothing and bring water/drinks plus feel free to bring a packed lunch/ picnic. Please take all rubbish home, as we don’t have a bin.

Entrance – gate next to no 53 River View Park, Catford SE6 4PL. Just off Catford Hill, Exbury Road. On street parking and 10 mins walk from Catford Bridge.

Summer fruit tree pruning workshop

Sunday 26th June 10-12 – please arrive by 9.45 so we can start on time. No late entry.

Repeats on Wednesday 6th July 4-6pm – please arrive by 3.45 so we can start on time. No later entry.

Join Caroline and to learn how to prune stone fruit trees (plums, cherries).

This is a hands on session and you will be helping to prune the wonderful plum trees at the Wild Cat Wilderness. You will be guided in how to identify what to cut, save and train in the summer months.

Book now for our half term adventures – make a wooden medal or disc necklace and make a nature crown ready for the jubilee celebrations. For both events there are morning and afternoon sessions with plenty of time to explore and play. Please note the last entry times.

Dress for the outdoors and the sessions will take place even if it rains as we will use the outdoor classroom.
