Community Wassail

Wassail – celebrate our fruit trees 17/1/26 2-4pm. Everyone welcome and suitable for all ages.

The Wild Cat Wilderness is classified as a veteran orchard because of our many old trees, plus we have a newer orchard we planted from trees we grafted.

Our first community event for 2026 will be a wassail on Saturday 17th Jan 2.00-4.00pm which is an ancient custom of visiting orchards and reciting incantations and singing to the trees to promote a good harvest for the coming year.

There will be instrument making, music and singing and a procession to visit our old and new apple trees. The Rushey Green Timebank choir will be singing and encouraging you to join in some traditional wassail songs. This will be followed by storytelling and mulled cider and apple juice around the campfire. Please bring any instruments you can play whilst walking as the more noise we make the better

All welcome but places are limited so please book a space for every adult and child. Bring a torch as it will get dark.

2.00-4.00pm entry from 1.45, last entry 2.15pm sorry no latecomers.

2pm instrument making – or bring your own that can be played whilst walking.

2.30pm music and singing and chance to learn some wassail songs

3pm apple tree parade followed storytelling and mulled cider and apple juice around the campfire

All welcome but booking essential. book via the Whats On page. Donation for drinks so please bring change, no cards accepted or change given. Please bring a mug and cup for your mulled cider or apple juice.
