Wild Adventures

Wild Adventures – a summer of outdoor fun at the Wild Cat Wilderness, Catford.

We have 8 events over the summer including: campfire cooking, fruit picking, meet the bees, butterflies, den building and lots of creative activities. All events free unless otherwise stated. Please check the recommended age and book for all coming both adults and children via the What’s On page.

Hatha Yoga Outdoors
Sunday 8th June 9.45-11 – also 6th and 20th July

Priya is running an outdoor hatha yoga session which is open to all abilities. (Undercover if rainy) She will guide you through some asanas (physical postures), pranayama (breathing exercises) and a guided meditation to leave you feeling calm, grounded and reinvigorated. Bring a mat/rug if you have one or let us know if you need to borrow one. As a charity we have a minimum suggested donation but encourage people to pay what they can afford so we can pay our workshop leaders and then use any extra towards the rest of our community project. Please note this is for ages 16+ only. No children.

Nature Wellness Retreat Day Sunday 22nd June 11-5pm
A Wild Cat Wilderness fundraiser with the Mud Club

Let us nuture you in nature. Step away from the noise and reconnect with what matters most—you. Join us for a soul-nourishing day in a beautiful community greenspace In Catford, designed to bring you rest, peace, and healing.

This is a space to fill your cup, reconnect with nature, and receive the deep nurturing your body and spirit deserve. Adults only.

The suggested donation for this fundraising event is £30 for the day or £20 for a half day either 11-2 or 2-5pm or pay what you can afford.

We also have some weekend volunteering opportunities in our woodland in Bellingham coming up from June to August. Help restore the woodland for the benefit of nature and people. There are x6 volunteering sessions this summer in our woodland 10am-1.30pm – 22nd June, 6th July, 20th July, 3rd Aug, 24th Aug, 31st Aug – full details, directions on the What’s On page of our website.

Minibeast morning
Wednesday 28th May 10-1. Last entry 12
Join Angela for a minibeast hunt at 10.30am/ or 12 and learn all about the wonderful small creatures that live at the Wild Cat Wilderness. There will also be time to explore, play and climb trees and make the most of our wild and wonderful site. Bring snacks/packed lunch and drinks. All ages welcome.

Plant sale and open day
Saturday 31st May 10-2pm
Entrance via the gate next to no 53 Riverview Park, Catford SE6 4PL shared with Long Meadow Allotment (no entry from River Pool). All ages welcome. Come and explore our wonderful community space and buy your herbs, vegetable plants, fruit bushes, flowers and strawberries. Refreshments available. Cash and cards accepted but cash preferred. Bring a bag for your goodies. Book to let us know you are coming or just turn up on the day. Bring a phone to ring for entry.

Big Lunch and teddy bears picnic (with storytelling)
Sunday 8th June 12- 4pm

Join us for a picnic and bring your teddy (or other favourite soft toy)
Bring a rug or chair plus your picnic food.
Book your places so that we know how many people are coming.
There will be storytelling at 2pm.
Last entry 3pm.

Volunteering every Thursday 12-3 and Friday 10-1.30
As a community project we rely on volunteers to develop and maintain the site. Come along for plenty of fresh air, to meet other local people, learn or improve your skills including organic gardening and nature conservation.

New Woodland for Wellbeing Green Prescriptions Project

Woodland for Wellbeing – a nature-based mental health initiative in Lewisham  

Help improve your mental wellbeing by connecting with nature in a meaningful way

This new project in Lewisham is designed for people who want to improve their mental health and wellbeing by engaging with nature in a woodland under the guidance of a qualified horticultural therapist.

Activities include nature conservation, tree surveys, planting, and maintaining the woodland, all of which are known to support mental and emotional wellbeing. No experience necessary and a variety of mindful activities to suit different abilities.

Start date
: 8th May 2025
Duration: 6 week pilot program from 8/5 until 12/6 Sessions are for 2 hours from 10-12 and you will required to attend all sessions
Location: Wild Cat Wilderness Woodland, Bellingham near the Bellingham Play Park
Focus: Activities designed to improve mental health through nature connection, including hands-on tasks like woodland care and maintenance in a small group in a supportive environment
