Using natural clay make some soil critters (the microscopic organisms that live in the soil) or make a worm if you like or anything else that is at home in the soil We will provide the clay and tools and some pictures and examples for inspiration.
This is one for x3 workshops on the 30th May and is suitable for those aged over 5+
The same workshop will run at the following times
Jo Pearl will be running this session. Jo is an activist artist who has been focused on making work about the biodiversity hidden in soil and Jo’s work was also part of the exhibition at Somerset House and who was part of the Soil exhibition at Somerset House in 2025, Soil the World at our Feet, which inspired this project.
The soil critters will then be part of our Summer Solstice Exhibition in June.
This is part of our Digging the Dirt project which runs from March-June this year and is all about soil – the world beneath your feet.
All tools and materials will be provided. You may want to bring an apron or wear old clothes.
As a charity we welcome everyone to our wild, but safe community space (sorry no dogs aside assistance animals). All activities are free but some have a small fee to cover costs but donations towards our charity really welcome and there will be a cash collection tin on the day or scan the QR code whilst there to donate online.
All children should be accompanied by an adult with up to x5 children per adult. Bring a phone to ring for entry and your own snacks/drinks. Make sure you dress for the outdoors as sessions will take place even if it rains (we generally only cancel if high winds or storms). Check the last entry time, as latecomers won’t be admitted sorry. Places are limited and please only book if you can attend and let us know if you book and then can’t come by emailing wcw@rgtb.org.uk if you don’t turn up and don’t let us know this will affect future bookings. Entry from 15mins before start time unless otherwise stated.
By booking a place or attending you are giving us consent to take photographs and these might be used for publicity purposes and on social media by our charity. If you want to opt out please notify the person running the session on the day. Thanks
If you are planning to come along let us know in advance if possible so we can plan refreshments, etc.
