Catford Arts Trail – open day plus natural dyeing and making things with wood
Sunday 13th October 11-3pm

This year as part of the wonderful Catford Arts Trail  we are taking part just on the Sunday 11-3pm. You can just drop in anytime between 11-3 but ideally let us know you are coming by booking below.

Liz Gill will be demonstrating and providing information about growing and dyeing with Japanese indigo, woad and weld from our dye garden plus other flowers and plants you can dye from around our site. Silk scarves dyed with our Japanese indigo will be on sale at £15 along with some seeds.

here’s a rough schedule

12pm Create a communal ecoprint with leaves,

1pm Harvest Japanese Indigo and dye silk ribbons

2pm Unbundle newly created eco prints

Join Maria to make things with wood from  – including things like butter knives, spatulas, tongs, pendents and some houses from wood on site from trees and off cuts from other projects.

Liz has been growing and making natural colour to print and dye with dye plants at the Wild Cat Wilderness and on her allotment for 5 years. Liz has taken the Natural Dye textiles course at Morley College with Zoe Burt. Susan and Ashleigh at Natures Rainbow Dye garden then helped Liz start off the Wild Cat Wilderness Dye garden 4 years ago, and been an incredible source of support and guidance along the way.

Maria is the Wild Cat Wilderness Project Coordinator and Forest School leader so experienced in making wooden things with all ages.

As a charity we welcome everyone to our wild community space (sorry no dogs aside assistance animals). All activities are free but donations towards our charity really welcome and there will be a cash collection tin on the day.

All children should be accompanied by an adult with up to x5 children per adult. Bring a packed lunch/ snacks and drinks. Please bring a phone to ring for entry. Make sure you dress for the outdoors and sessions will take place even if it rains (we generally only cancel if high winds or storms).

By booking a place or attending you are giving us consent to take photographs and these might be used for publicity purposes and on social media by our charity. If you want to opt out please notify the person running the session on the day. Thanks

If you are planning to come along let us know in advance if possible so we can plan refreshments, etc.
