Catford Arts Trail – natural dyeing demos and open day
Sunday 11th October 11-3pm

As part of the wonderful Catford Arts Trail for 2026 we are open on the Sunday 11-3pm. You can just drop in anytime between 11-3 but ideally let us know you are coming by booking below.

Liz Gill will be demonstrating and providing information about growing and dyeing with Japanese indigo, woad and weld from our dye garden plus other flowers and plants you can dye from around our site.

As our funding with the National Lottery Community Fund has come to and end then we will be asking people for a donation. There will be a cash collection tin on the day. or you can scan the QR code and make a donation online. A big thank you to Liz and the rest of our volunteers who give up their time.

There will be am update on the schedule very soon but here’s a rough timeplan

12pm Create a communal ecoprint with leaves

1pm Harvest Japanese Indigo and dye silk ribbons

2pm Unbundle newly created eco prints

Liz has been growing and making natural colour to print and dye with dye plants at the Wild Cat Wilderness and on her allotment for 6 years. Liz has taken the Natural Dye textiles course at Morley College with Zoe Burt. Susan and Ashleigh at Natures Rainbow Dye garden then helped Liz start off the Wild Cat Wilderness Dye garden 5 years ago, and been an incredible source of support and guidance along the way.

As a charity we welcome everyone to our wild community space (sorry no dogs aside assistance animals). All activities are free but donations towards our charity really welcome and there will be a cash collection tin on the day or scan the QR code to make an online donation.

All children should be accompanied by an adult with up to x5 children per adult. Bring a packed lunch/ snacks and drinks. Please bring a phone to ring for entry. Make sure you dress for the outdoors and sessions will take place even if it rains (we generally only cancel if high winds or storms).

By booking a place or attending you are giving us consent to take photographs and these might be used for publicity purposes and on social media by our charity. If you want to opt out please notify the person running the session on the day. Thanks

If you are planning to come along let us know in advance if possible so we can plan refreshments, etc.
